Horns Go Down

I think this picture says it all, but I'll say some more because I love to blab on.

Well as many of you know I, Jeff, am not a big fan of basketball. The only time I can say that I have enjoyed watching it is when Jason or Mueller played. On the other hand I am a Sooner fan and so when they play basketball I am always interested in the game and the outcome because I want them to win.
So tonight they beat saxet. I love it when we beat them. When any Oklahoma team beats an saxet team it makes my heart glad. The score was 82-72. Just lovely. On MSN they had a headline that read "Oklahoma messes with texas".
When your neighbor is always raising a stink about how they are the best and how big they are and how everybody better just stay away or they will eat you (something like that). Its nice to humble them at little.
Hope you all are havin a great night or day or whatever it is when you read this. I sure am.

Metal Cup + Microwave = Bad

Well, yesterday I was a bright one and put a metal coffee cup in the microwave. Luckily, nothing happened. I just felt really dumb because I put it in there to warm up water for hot chocolate to bring to class. While it was in there I was playing with the other one and realized "Hey, this is metal and probably isn't a good idea." So, I asked Jeff if they could go in the mocrowave and he told me I better hurry and take it out. So I did. I did not feel like the sharpest tool in the shed nor the brightest crayon in the box. Here's a little picture as a reminder not to put metal cups in the microwave. much love becky

Old Testament Homework

I just got done reading Numbers for my OT class. Nothing new and exciting popped out to me while reading. Mainly because I was not looking for anything. I just wanted to get the reading done. Anywho, now I'm reading the portion in our textbook, Encountering the Old Testament, which deals with the book of Numbers. Something did pop out to me in this reading.

"Mount Sinai, with it's constant reminders of God's presence, was never intended to be the final destination for God's people. There come a time to break camp, head out into the world, claim God's promises, and fulfill His calling."

How many times do we come to places in our lives where God's presence is undeniable and decide to get comfortable, assuming this must be it? God has more in store for us than we could ever imagine. We must be obedient and break camp when it's time. Just a little thought. much love becky

Can't Help Myself

Anyone who knows me knows I would never let a game like last night go by without posting about it. Kobe had 81 points! That is insane! I don't need to say much about that. I'll let the links below do the talkin'. Man, I wish I could have watched the game. Eighty-one. I can't get over it.

Incomplete

No, this is not some deep post about being incomplete. I am so freakin' sick of this song. Incomplete by Backstreet boys can die. That may sound a little harsh, but hear me out. Our neighbors (those lovely ones above us which I wrote about in a post a few months ago) play this song over and over whenever their kids are sleeping. Their kids' bedroom happens to be right above ours. So, a few times throughout the day when they take naps and all night long, we hear Incomplete over and over. Some nights we can barely hear it while other nights it sounds like it's blasting in our apartment. And other times we can even hear James singing along with it. That one actually isn't too bad...it makes us laugh. We probably hear this song over 100 time in a 24 hr period. It is rediculous. I want to break in and break the CD. Hearing music coming from there wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't that same freakin' song ALL the time. Ok, I'm done venting for now. I'm just very annoyed. This song will do that to a patient person and I don't consider myself to be a very patient person. Have a great day. much love becky

Hockey Game

We went to our first hockey game of the semester tonight. The Blazers (that's us) won 7-2. It was a fun game to watch. We're actually starting to get into hockey. I guess that's what living in Canada will do to a person. And of course, we had a great time with Dan and Morgan as usual. We all went and got some Tim Horton's before the game. While there three of us (Dan already knew this) learned that Tim Horton played hockey for 22 years. It all makes sense now. Anywho, here are some pictures from the game and some are us around the apartment.

Back in our apartment trying to warm up. That arena is one cold place to be.

Dan and Morgan outside after the game.

I enjoy using this effect. I'm not quite sure why, but I do.

Outside after the game.

Freezing at the hockey game.

Some hockey action for ya'll.

Dan and Morgan trying to stay warm.

Lynyrd Skynyrd and Praising the Lord

Last night I went to St. John to get Shane from the airport and on my way there I was listening to the greatest American band ever Lynyrd Skynyrd. I love those guys. I don't know what it is about those guys, but their music is almost perfect. Okay so I suppose that I inadvertantly just made a case for truth being relative. But none the less they have a dang good sound. Seriously, who can argue with three guitars? So as I was driving I was also thinking ( wow thats like three things at once, aren't you proud mom) why can't they make worship music sound like this. The only Christian band that I have heard that is close is Third Day, they are good. So I will ask the question again "Why don't we have worship music like that"?
I have been thinking alot about that the last 24 hours or so and I came to a conclusion, I think. The conclusion: It doesn't matter. I think I heard twice today the concepts of truth and experience being contrasted. I want to worship God in truth. If I demand that the music be of a southern rock sound compariable to that of Skynyrd then I am focusing on the experience. Experiences are good but I can't let my feelings about them be my measure for my relationship with Christ.
Well I did it. I listened to a band my mom doesn't really approve of and I grew closer to Christ.
talk to you all later,
jeff

Kobe and the Lakers

Alright, the last few years I've been slackin' off when it comes to keepin' up with the Lakers. I guess I use to have a life :) Well, this year I'm finally back on track and what a year to do so. While the Lakers are just over .500, Kobe (the reason for me becoming a Lakers fan) is having an amazing season. He just tied a record that Wilt Chamberlain has held for over 40 years. That being he has scored 45+ points in 4 consecutive games. Not even Micheal Jordan could do that. Yes, I am bias, but I've got reason to be. Look at this guy. He's good. After last night's game against the Pacers, Indiana's coach, Rick Carlisle said this about Kobe: "Hey, the guy's at the top of his game. We're witnessing true greatness. It's a rare opportunity to see a guy perform at this level." I haven't gotten to watch a game yet, but I've got the ESPN Gamecast up just about every night the Lakers are playing. It's not quite the same as watching the game on TV, but it will have to do until April when we're back in the US. Whether you're a fan or not, you've gotta admit that Kobe and the Lakers are worth watching this season if for no other reason than to see how many more records Kobe can accomplish. I know I'll be watchin'. much love Becky

It's Crazy to Me

It's crazy to me how one sin, no matter how big or small can keep a person down for so long. It's crazy to me that a person could let something in the past effect them so much without even realizin' what's goin' on. It's crazy to me that God chooses to use a person who is so dense. It's crazy to me that God doesn't give up on a person who has seemed to have given up on themself. It's crazy to me how God can and will use anything to get through to a person. It's crazy to me that everything can change just like that when a person stops doin' it themselves and gives it to God. It's crazy to me what Jesus Christ took upon himself on that cross so a person doesn't have to do it alone. It's crazy to me that a person would still choose to do it alone.

Not anymore. New semester. New year. New way of livin'.

Paul Wright's got it right.

I Hate Texas

Of course I say that losely. After all I did vote for George W. and I love the guy. Oh and have you ever been to Houston (I love those Astros) or Amarillo, I am a sucker for cow towns.
Okay back to the point. When it comes to the Unviversity of burnt down orange saxet, I don't like'em. Can't say I ever have. Sometimes when I think about Austin and the Longhorns I just get the chills. If you've ever been there and driven on that double decker expressway that goes right close to the campus then you'll have to agree that it could be compared to the two ways in to Mordor. So what if I'm a Lord of the Rings dork, read the books.
So like I said I hate saxet.
But for some reason I think I hate USC more. I don't know if its everybody druelling over them or if I just don't like that they beat us last year (thats all I will say about that, I have my pride). Offically I will say that it is because I am loyal to the Big 12. Usually that is lie I say that but really I hope the Horns lose. Not this time.
I am excited for them to win (quick mom take a picture it may never happen again). I would like nothing more than to see saxet, I hate typing the word texas, I have to maintain some level of disrespect, after all it is our biggest rival, embarrass the Trojans. Seriously, they should just go in to Pasadena, Vincey boy should ask for the Hiesman back and then saxet should just stomp all over those west coast beach bums. I want them to win.
Okay I am going to quit there cuz it truly is painful to feel this way about a team I hate.
Hope you all get to watch the game tonight I still haven't found a place. I think it will be one heck of a game.
Talk to you all later. (I think you are the only one that reads this stuff tina fey)

Boy Meets World Quote: Week 5

"She's imported. From New York. The windy city." ~Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong)

The Joys of Canada

Okay this is short but I am amazed by it so I thought that i would share with you. I ran to the store tonight just to see if there was anything that we needed that was on sale. This is my normal way to shop. Back to the story. I was looking around in the meat dept. and i saw ground beef for 97 cents a pound. There is no tax on food here so it really was just 97 cents a pound and its like 85% lean. Incredable. Just thought i would share that with you all cuz I am a dork.
Oh and i have to say to Tina Fey that i am sorry about the Hawkeyes. Nice comeback late sorry it wasn't quite enough.
